Woo hoo! We have made it through Day 1, and are happy to be in Mathoura :). We set off from Epsom Community Church this morning, and really appreciated a little group of people coming to send us off. Check out the video of the send off on the MADCOW Facebook page, or click this link:

It was a chilly start, but the sunshine and a nice little breeze on our back made it nice riding. We had to head east later in the day to get across to Moama, which wasn’t such fun. Most of the day had the breeze on our back though, and it was a good day of riding. We had a laugh when Scott forgot to unclip his pedals and toppled over. We had stopped at a t-junction and a truck was coming along, saw the fall, and then had a big smile on his face as he went past. William managed to repeat the trick later too, but no great harm was done to either of them. For William, Scott and Jonah they all rode further in a day today than they ever had before, so it was a great effort. Anyway, here’s a video from the end of the day with a few reactions:

We are loving having Rod with us. He is giving our bikes sensational care, and is ready to help with any bike troubles whenever they come. Here’s a video of Rod in his happy place when we finished:

Thanks for all your support. We had 4 people take an interest in the ride and donate to MADCOW today, which was really encouraging. One person came up alongside Graham as he was following us in the ute, shouted out through the window that he wanted to know more about the ride, then when they pulled over he handed over some cash. That’s really cool. It will be a chilly start for us in the morning as we leave, but that’s nothing like sleeping outside in some makeshift shelter though.
Great job day 1. Go well team for Tuesday. 😊
