Morning tea from the air

Today we headed out from Hillston, and since the sun was behind the clouds there was a lot of complaining about the cold! It was chilly, but after about an hour the sun burned the clouds off and it was a generally pleasant day for riding. We averaged 28-30 km/hr for most of the day, and had a bit of a breeze somewhere on our backs for the day. We finished 160 km later at Gilgunnia, and drove into Cobar where we will spend the next 2 nights.
When you are riding a bike you notice all the little bumps in the road, and how different the road surfaces are. We all agree that Carrathool Shire have the smoothest highway we have driven on…when we hit the sign for Cobar Shire today the road immediately changed to course and bumpy. So far, we have only had 2 flat tyres…both on my (Dave’s) bike! The others think I am conveniently trying to get an extra rest break at times. After my flat tyre today, I quickly changed the front wheel and when we got going again I just couldn’t keep up. Scott was saying I had ‘hit the wall’, and Lewis was saying I was just getting too old…but when we stopped after a few kilometres of puffing we found that one of my brake pads had just been rubbing a little bit and the front wheel could not turn freely. It’s amazing the difference that just a bit of extra friction made. As I was riding along afterwards, I was thinking about how that happens in life too. When I mention the work MADCOW are doing with homeless people, I sometimes get asked how people get to be homeless or find themselves needing help. There’s all sorts of reasons, but very often it starts for people just like my wheel today….when just a bit of extra friction/stress/struggle comes into somebody’s life and as hard as they try they just can’t keep up. At those times, having somebody like MADCOW keen and willing to help is such a blessing. Thanks again for all your support. Enjoy the videos…..
