Motivation: Doing the ride with Jake (my son). Enjoying an adventure of a lifetime with a cyclist group
Inspiration: Jake Turnbull – I had the privilege of conducting Jake’s funeral recently. He took an active interest in the MADRide. When he died, his family gave me a sizeable donation towards the ride. I’m riding in honour of Jack.
Why Help MADCOW? MADCOW is making a difference in the lives of people who are vulnerable and marginalised in this city. Helping them is a simple way of demonstrating God’s love in real and practical ways. This is an opportunity to promote MADCOW and to speak about what we do as a church across Bendigo.
Most challenging aspect: Finding time to train in the midst of a busy schedule
Funniest Moment: AJ’s smart remark [aka words of encouragement] as we pushed up a hill. You’ll have to ask him what he said!
Interesting Training Partner: Daryl Anderson – He has a never ending supply of stories to help the time pass quickly when training
Favourite bakery: Huntly or Heathcote (it’s a tie!)
Distance Goal: 120km per day
Biggest Fear: Riding each day for three solid weeks
Most Looking Forward to: Creating some great memories with Jake. Getting off the bike at the end of each day
After the Ride: Seeing my family.
